Freelance Health & Safety Advisor
The successful candidate will work closely with site management teams to ensure compliance with current health, safety and environmental legislation, while promoting a positive safety culture throughout all operations.
Experience within civil engineering or construction is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits across multiple projects
- Monitor compliance with company health & safety procedures and statutory regulations
- Provide practical health & safety guidance to site teams and subcontractors
- Produce detailed inspection reports and corrective action plans
- Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Support site teams with RAMS reviews and implementation
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and safe systems of work are maintained
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings where required
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and site documentation
- Liaise with operational teams to drive continuous improvement in safety performance
- Support preparation for external audits and client inspections
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and relevant HSE guidance
Requirements
- Previous experience within residential groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong working knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation
- Experience conducting site audits and inspections
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Tech IOSH / Grad IOSH membership
- Temporary Works or Streetworks awareness.
- Experience working with national housebuilders
- First Aid qualification
