Furnace Technician (days only)
Furnace Technician Location: North Sheffield Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm (40 hours per week) Additional: Occasional weekend/holiday work during maintenance periods About the Role A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Furnace Technician to join a busy engineering environment supporting heavy‑industry operations. You'll play a vital part in ensuring equipment reliability, completing pyrometry tasks, and supporting both planned and reactive maintenance. Key Responsibilities * Respond quickly to machine breakdowns and carry out effective first‑time fixes. * Perform TUS, SAT, and calibration pyrometry tasks, including all required documentation. * Maintain effective communication with internal departments to reduce downtime. * Manage sourcing of tools, materials, spares, and subcontractor support. * Ensure calibration of field test instruments through third‑party providers. * Support combustion activities and contribute to utility‑reduction initiatives. * Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and housekeeping. * Carry out additional engineering tasks as required. Requirements Experience & Knowledge * Previous experience as a Furnace Technician or within a similar role. * Experience in a hot‑working or heavy‑manufacturing environment is advantageous. * Working knowledge of AMS2750 is highly desirable. Skills & Attributes * Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving abilities. * Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. * Logical, analytical, self‑motivated, and adaptable. * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement. Desirable Qualifications * Confined space training. * I‑Gas Level 1 or Level 3 certification.
