GCSE & Functional Skills Tutor – Redcar Location: Redcar Job Type: Part-time / Full-time (Monday–Friday) Pay: Competitive (PAYE) Contract: Ongoing Job Description New Chapter Tuition is seeking a dedicated GCSE & Functional Skills Tutor to provide 1:1 outreach support to 14-25 years across Redcar. You will work with students who are unable to fully access mainstream education, including those with SEMH, ADHD, anxiety, or those at risk of exclusion. Sessions take place in community-based settings such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, and alternative provisions. This is a rewarding role focused on improving engagement, confidence, and academic outcomes. Key Responsibilities * Deliver 1:1 tuition in GCSE and Functional Skills (English, Maths, and occasionally Science) * Support ages 14-25 learners * Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs * Deliver sessions in community settings * Build positive and professional relationships with learners * Monitor progress and provide feedback * Liaise with families, schools, and other professionals Requirements * Experience working with secondary-FE students * Strong knowledge of the UK GCSE and Functional Skills curriculum * Calm, patient, and empathetic approach * Ability to work independently in outreach environments * Strong communication and organisational skills * Right to work in the UK * Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) Benefits * Competitive hourly rates * PAYE employment * Flexible working hours * Free CPD and education webinars * Ongoing support from a specialist team * Opportunities for career development Safeguarding All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks, references, and safeguarding procedures.
