General Operative

SW-007-GenOp-243 General Operative £18 - £20 per hour Long term contract Working for a Maintenance Contractor Based around Southampton Due to contract wins, our client is looking to increase their in-house workforce with a General Operative. This role is similar to a General Operative position but does not require the same level of qualifications or experience. You will be supporting day-to-day repairs, maintenance, and specialist cleaning works across domestic properties. **You must hold a full UK driving licence as a company vehicle will be supplied for this role** Key Responsibilities * Carry out minor handyman and general maintenance tasks * Support trades on damp, mould, and preservation works * Undertake cleaning of gutters using an automated gutter hoover system * Carry out three-stage mould wash treatments * Assist with and complete basic painting and decorating * Complete small-scale repairs such as: * Fixing doors, locks, and handles * Minor plumbing tasks (e.g. tap changes, unblocking sinks) * Basic patch repairs * Work within occupied residential properties, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants * Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents * Follow a planned route of jobs, completing works efficiently * Work closely with schedulers and planners to meet SLAs * Complete daily worksheets detailing work undertaken and materials used * Maintain a clean and tidy working environment at all times * Work independently or alongside other trades when required What You Need to Bring to the Role * Basic maintenance / handyman or labouring experience * Willingness to learn and develop new skills * Good communication and customer service skills * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Basic IT skills (use of PDA/mobile device) * Understanding of health and safety on site * Previous experience in social housing or occupied properties (desirable but not essential) * Strong work ethic with attention to detail * Problem-solving attitude * Flexibility and reliability Full UK driving licence required (company van provided) Overview £18 – £20 per hour Company van supplied Fuel or fuel card provided Working hours: 8am – 5pm Long-term opportunity with potential to go permanent Training, upskilling, and development available Positive and flexible working environment Next step to apply for this General Operative role: As a candidate ideally with similar experience, you will already know the technical specifications of this role, but following your application of interest, you will have the role explained in more detail ITS Property Maintenance are acting as an employment business for this vacancy ITS Property Maintenance specialise in working within the social housing sector where we work with: ✅ Housing Association ✅ Local Authority ✅ Direct Labour Organisation ✅ Maintenance Contractors ✅ Estates Department ✅ FM Contractors.
