About the Role:
Our client, a local authority in South East England, is seeking a passionate Green Spaces Development Officer to lead the development and supervision of capital works for the installation of three splashpads. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to enhancing green spaces and working closely with communities to create inclusive, high-quality recreational areas.
You will be responsible for project managing the delivery of two new splashpads and one replacement splashpad, ensuring compliance with project planning principles, procurement regulations, health and safety standards, and financial protocols. This role offers the opportunity to engage with residents, partners, and stakeholders to develop projects that align with the community’s needs and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Project manage the delivery of splashpad capital projects, from planning and design through to procurement and completion.
* Ensure projects are developed in consultation with internal colleagues, residents, and partners, incorporating their feedback into final proposals.
* Prepare contract documents, manage the tendering process, and evaluate tenders for contracted services.
* Encourage and develop community engagement in the delivery of green space projects.
* Support the Green Spaces Manager in providing advice and guidance on green space matters to stakeholders, including residents, members, and external organisations.
* Deliver projects that are financially and environmentally sustainable, ensuring value for money and compliance with council policies.
* Attend meetings, events, and activities to promote the Green Spaces service and collaborate with partner organisations.
* Comply with the council’s standing orders, financial regulations, and policies relating to green space activities.
Requirements:
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Project Management, Landscape Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (desirable).
* PRINCE2 Project Management qualification (desirable).
* Proven experience in project management, particularly in green space improvements, sport, or play facilities.
* Experience managing capital budgets and delivering projects within the public or private sector.
* Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, partners, and stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to changing priorities and deadlines.
* Knowledge of legislation and best practices relating to green spaces, project management, and health and safety.
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport during working hours.
* Willingness to work outside normal hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
