Job Title: Groundworker (Dumper/Roller) - National Grid Person Location: National Grid Melksham Substation, Wiltshire Start Date: 16 March 2026 End Date: 25 September 2026 Hours: 45 hours per week Working Hours: 07:30 - 17:30 Rate: £25 per hour Contract Type: Temporary (Inside IR35) Overview: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Operative / Groundworker to support works on a National Grid substation project at Melksham. This role will involve working within a live high-voltage infrastructure environment, assisting with a range of civil works to support ongoing substation upgrades. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure project with a well-established contractor delivering critical UK energy network works. Key Responsibilities: Carrying out general groundworks on a National Grid substation site Operating plant including dumper and roller where required Assisting with excavation, ducting, trenching and reinstatement works Supporting civil construction activities associated with substation infrastructure Working safely within a high-voltage transmission environment Adhering to all site health, safety and environmental procedures Ensuring works are completed in line with project requirements and schedulesEssential Requirements: National Grid Person (NG Person) CPCS or NPORS Dumper ticket CPCS or NPORS Roller ticket Previous experience working on National Grid or high-voltage substation projects Full PPE required before starting on siteAdditional Information: 45 hours per week standard Inside IR35 - Limited company payment not permitted Candidates must meet all ticket and certification requirements to be considered Application Note: Please only apply if you meet the National Grid authorisation and plant ticket requirements listed above.
