Hairdressing Instructor
We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and skilled Hairdressing Instructor to join a specialist SEMH provision, working with young people who face significant emotional, social and behavioural challenges. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who believes in relational teaching and trauma-informed practice, and who can use hairdressing as a powerful tool to re-engage learners, build confidence and develop employability skills. Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver engaging, accredited or vocational hairdressing sessions tailored to individual needs * Use hairdressing as a therapeutic and relational tool to build trust, self-esteem and regulation * Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour calmly and consistently * Adapt teaching strategies to support learners with SEMH needs * Track progress and contribute to individual learning and behaviour plans * Maintain high standards of health, safety and hygiene within the beauty learning environment * Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, support staff and leadership The Ideal Candidate Will: * Hold a relevant hairdressing qualification (Level 2 or above preferred) * Have experience teaching, training or mentoring young people (SEMH experience desirable but not essential) * Be emotionally resilient, patient and reflective * Understand or be open to learning about trauma-informed and restorative approaches * Be confident setting boundaries while maintaining warmth and respect * Believe that behaviour is communication, not defiance This role is subject to enhanced DBS checks and safer recruitment procedures.
