We are seeking an adaptable, reliable, and detail-oriented Maintenance Fabric Technician / Handyman for an immediate-start contract position based in Ponteland.
Operating on a rotating 3-shift pattern between the hours of 06:00 and 23:00, Monday to Friday, you will be the go-to resource for keeping the facility safe, functional, and visually up to standard.
Key Responsibilities
*
General Fabric Maintenance: Carry out first-line building fabric repairs, including minor carpentry, basic plumbing touches, changing locks, adjusting doors, and fixing fixtures.
*
Painting & Decorating: Own the internal and external cosmetic upkeep of the site, executing high-quality patching, priming, painting, and glossing as required.
*
Grounds Maintenance: Oversee the external appearance and safety of the site, managing general grounds upkeep, clearing pathways, and ensuring waste management protocols are followed.
*
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with strict health and safety guidelines, keeping walkways clear of hazards.
*
Proactive Reporting: Conduct routine site walkthroughs to identify defects, logging completed work orders and escalating complex mechanical/electrical issues to specialist engineers.
Experience & Qualifications:
*
Proven Track Record: Solid experience working as a Handyman, Fabric Technician, or Site Caretaker within a commercial, public sector, or busy facilities management framework.
*
Enhanced DBS: You must hold a valid, active Enhanced DBS certificate (or be currently registered on the DBS Update Service) to be considered for this position.
*
Broad Skill Set: Competent across multiple basic trades, with strong practical capability in painting/decorating and general building fabric repairs.

Flexibility: Comfortable working a rotating 3-shift pattern covering the 06:00 to 23:00 window.

Reliability: A punctual, self-motivated worker who can work independently from a task list and manage their time effectively.
