An ambitious and forward-thinking secondary school in the London Borough of Hillingdon is seeking to appoint an inspiring and experienced Head of Humanities to lead a dynamic department from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator with strong leadership skills to shape and develop the Humanities curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for Key Stage 5), driving excellence in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

The Role

As Head of Humanities, you will:

Lead and manage the Humanities department (e.g. History, Geography, Religious Education)
Develop and implement a high-quality, engaging curriculum
Monitor and raise standards of teaching and learning across the department
Support, coach, and develop team members
Use data effectively to track progress and drive achievement
Contribute to whole-school improvement strategies

We are looking for someone who:

Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with a specialism in a Humanities subject
Has proven leadership experience or is ready to take the next step in their career
Is committed to raising attainment and delivering inclusive education
Demonstrates strong organisational and communication skills
Has a clear vision for developing Humanities education in a secondary setting
