Health, Safety & Compliance Manager

Location: Southampton (on-site), 830am-530pm (flexi-hours available)

Salary: Up to £45,000

An established and rapidly developing organisation within the industrial processing and materials sector is seeking a Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to support operations at a key site in the South of England. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business undergoing significant investment and transformation, with a strong focus on operational excellence, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

This role will take ownership of health, safety and compliance activities across a busy operational environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in embedding a positive safety culture, ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks, and maintaining key certification standards.

You will work closely with operational teams to drive best practice, manage audits, and ensure systems are both robust and scalable as the organisation continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a health & safety strategy across site operations

Ensure full compliance with UK legislation and relevant industry standards

Oversee and maintain certification frameworks (e.g. ISO standards and relevant compliance accreditations)

Plan and manage internal and external audits, ensuring readiness at all times

Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions

Deliver training, toolbox talks and ongoing guidance to colleagues

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, policies and procedures

Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors

Support continuous improvement initiatives across SHEQ systems

About You

Demonstrable experience within a Health, Safety & Compliance-focused role

NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) is essential

Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks, and audit processes

Experience working within a manufacturing, logistics, recycling or similarly fast-paced environment (desirable)

Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

Highly organised with strong attention to detail

Proactive, hands-on approach with a solutions-focused mindset
