Heritage Consultant Location: Bourne End Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an exciting consultancy in their search for a Heritage Consultant, to join their team in Bourne End. This is an excellent opportunity for a heritage professional to join a respected consultancy working across a diverse portfolio of projects involving historic buildings, conservation areas, and heritage assets. The successful Heritage Consultant will play an important role in supporting planning applications and development proposals where heritage considerations are a key factor. The Role As a Heritage Consultant, you will work closely with planners, architects, and developers to assess the impact of development proposals on heritage assets and provide clear, well-reasoned advice to support planning applications. You will contribute to a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, ensuring that heritage considerations are carefully assessed and integrated into the planning process. Key Responsibilites Preparing Heritage Statements and Heritage Impact Assessments Undertaking research into the history and significance of heritage assets Assessing the impact of development proposals on listed buildings and conservation areas Supporting planning applications with appropriate heritage documentation Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, conservation officers, and project teams Providing advice on heritage policy and relevant legislation Conducting site visits and historic environment assessments Candidate Requirements Degree in Heritage, Archaeology, History, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline Experience preparing Heritage Statements or heritage planning reports Good understanding of heritage legislation and planning policy Strong research and report writing skills Excellent communication and organisational abilities A proactive approach and ability to work collaboratively within a consultancy environment What's on Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Hybrid working arrangements Opportunity to work on a diverse range of heritage-led projects Supportive and collaborative team environment Excellent professional development opportunities This is a fantastic opportunity for a Heritage Consultant looking to develop their career within a respected consultancy working on a wide variety of projects involving historic environments and heritage assets.
