Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Support Worker to work with young people aged 16 to 18 in a specialist educational setting in Yeovil. This role is available for September 2026, with the potential to start full-time as soon as possible. Set within an expansive countryside environment, this provision offers a unique and engaging setting focused on preparing young people for adulthood. You will support learners with autism, additional learning needs and associated complex behaviours, helping them develop independence, confidence and essential life skills for the future. Key Responsibilities Support young people across education, care and community activities Assist with life skills, independence and wellbeing development Encourage participation in activities such as sports, social visits and enrichment trips Promote a safe, structured and positive environment Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to meet individual needs Skills and Experience Energetic personality with a positive and proactive approach Patience and understanding of diverse and complex learning needs Ability to commit to working from Monday to Friday for consistency for students Strong communication skills and a calm, supportive manner Ability to work both independently and within a team Previous SEN or care experience is beneficial but not essential What We Offer Competitive weekly pay Hourly rate rising to £14.50 per hour from April 2026 Access to ongoing training and professional development Dedicated consultant support from Teaching Personnel Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same, ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people to build independence and achieve positive outcomes.
