We are seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support schools across Leeds on short- to medium-term supply contracts. These roles are suited to confident professionals who can take on increased classroom responsibility, deliver planned lessons, and provide high-level support to teaching staff. This is not an entry-level role. HLTA status (or equivalent experience) and strong classroom experience are essential. Key Responsibilities Classroom Delivery Lead whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher using pre-planned lessons. Deliver small group interventions and targeted learning support. Adapt lesson delivery to meet the needs of pupils across different ability levels. Ensure continuity of learning and maintain classroom structure throughout the day. Support pupils in achieving learning objectives across core subjects. Classroom & Behaviour Management Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies. Establish clear expectations and maintain a focused learning environment. Respond to challenging behaviour confidently and professionally. Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development. Learning & Intervention Support Plan and deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and other key areas. Work with individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEN. Support the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans where required. Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN staff. Teaching Support Assist with lesson planning, preparation of resources, and classroom organisation. Provide high-level support to teachers in delivering the curriculum. Contribute to assessment, tracking, and reporting of pupil progress. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider school teams. Person Specification Essential * HLTA status or equivalent experience in a similar role. * Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a UK school environment. * Proven ability to lead a classroom and deliver lessons independently. * Strong understanding of the primary or secondary curriculum. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Confident behaviour management skills. * Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt quickly to new environments. Desirable * Experience across both primary and secondary settings. * Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). * Relevant qualifications in education or child development. * Experience delivering structured interventions and support programmes. * Familiarity with school assessment and tracking systems. Safeguarding & Compliance * Enhanced DBS (required). * Two references required, including most recent employer. * Proof of right to work in the UK required. * Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in education. Additional Information * Roles available across Leeds and surrounding areas. * Contracts range from daily supply to several months. * Flexibility and availability at short notice are highly valued
