Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Start Date: After February Half Term
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Caerphilly. This role is ideal for a Level 4 or 5 qualified Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting learning across the school and covering PPA time when required.
You will work both as a classroom Teaching Assistant and step into a HLTA role to lead learning in the absence of the class teacher across both KS1 and KS2.
Requirements:
Level 4 or Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification
Experience working within a primary school setting
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Flexibility and confidence to work across different classes
Key Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant (TA):
Support pupils' learning in line with the teacher's planning
Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
Provide support for pupils with additional learning needs
Promote positive behaviour and engagement
Help monitor and record pupil progressAs a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA):
Deliver planned lessons during PPA cover across different classes
Manage the classroom independently in the teacher's absence
Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners
Assess, record, and report on pupil progress during cover sessions
Support curriculum delivery across a range of subjects and key stages
Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and behaviour
