Contract: 3‑month initial assignment, strong potential for extension
Rate: £30 per hour (Umbrella)

We're supporting our public sector client in recruiting a Homelessness Officer to join their Housing Solutions service. This role is well-suited to someone who is confident managing a varied caseload, knowledgeable in current homelessness legislation, and committed to delivering high-quality support to residents at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out detailed assessments for individuals and households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Determine statutory duties owed and issue formal s.184 homelessness decisions.
Create and review Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) tailored to each applicant's needs.
Take a proactive approach to preventing homelessness, using available tools such as the Homelessness Prevention Fund, DHPs, and deposit schemes.
Provide clear advice on housing rights, responsibilities, and available options, including private rented and social housing pathways.
Ensure applicants fully understand the implications of decisions and any offers of accommodation.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies-social care, health, and third-sector organisations-to coordinate support.
Attend multi-agency meetings and escalate safeguarding concerns where necessary.
Assess and arrange emergency accommodation when required, and support residents placed in temporary accommodation.
Maintain accurate casework records on web-based systems and contribute to statutory reporting, including H-CLIC returns.
Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, policy, and case law, ensuring full compliance with statutory duties.
Contribute to service improvement initiatives and ongoing training.Ideal Candidate

Strong background in homelessness prevention or housing options
Solid understanding of homelessness legislation and the duties owed under the HRA 2017.
Excellent case management, communication, and decision-making skills.
Able to work effectively with vulnerable individuals and in partnership with multi-agency teams.
Committed to delivering services that are fair, inclusive, and responsive.
