IFE Fire Safety lead (Part B) - Outside Ir35 contract
Elevate Projects are ​working in partnership with our valued client, who having secured a standalone budget have asked us to support with approaching and appointing an IFE Fire Safety lead to take their list of compliance issues, priorities them and create works packages for a small team to deliver the project works that come out of this. This will include compartmentation, fire doors, alarms, escape routes and will require good working knowledge of Part B and BS9999. The Deputy Director is focused on improving compliance on fire specific risks cross the mixed property portfolio and wants to create a new dedicated team to do this, comprising of the Lead, and 3 project managers. Key Objectives * Review and interrogate the existing fire safety compliance register and outstanding actions. * Risk-assess and prioritise issues across the estate in line with statutory obligations and life-safety risk. * Develop clear, deliverable works packages covering remediation and improvement projects. * Establish a structured delivery plan for a dedicated fire compliance team. * Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in fire safety engineering and compliance. Scope of Works The role will encompass (but not be limited to): * Compartmentation – intrusive surveys, remediation strategy, specification of fire stopping works. * Fire doors – inspection regimes, remedial works, replacement specifications, certification requirements. * Fire alarm systems – compliance review, upgrade requirements, integration considerations. * Means of escape – assessment of escape routes, signage, travel distances, emergency lighting interface. * General passive and active fire protection compliance across residential and specialist buildings. Technical Requirements The successful candidate must demonstrate: * Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers * Strong working knowledge of: * Building Regulations Part B * BS 9999 * Experience working within complex, multi-building estates (university, healthcare or public sector preferred). * Ability to interpret fire risk assessments and translate findings into deliverable project scopes. * Experience packaging compliance works into defined project briefs suitable for delivery by project managers and contractors. * Understanding of procurement, contractor management and quality assurance processes. * Ability to balance technical compliance with operational and budgetary constraints. Key Responsibilities * Prioritise fire safety compliance risks using a clear, auditable methodology. * Develop costed and sequenced works packages. * Create technical specifications and scopes of work. * Support procurement and contractor selection where required. * Oversee and technically assure works delivered by the three Project Managers. * Report progress, risks and strategic recommendations to the Deputy Director. * Contribute to establishing governance, reporting and performance metrics for the new fire compliance team
