Injection Moulding Team Leader
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3, Certificate, Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent; or 10+ years’ experience setting injection moulding machines.
• Strong problem-solving capability, including complex technical troubleshooting.
• Proven expertise in process optimisation and fault diagnosis.
• Experience conducting new product trials and producing supporting data reports.
• Competence in Kaizen / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Robotic cell setup and operation.
• Experience supervising or leading small teams.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety in injection moulding environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently.
Provide overall leadership for Technicians on shift, ensuring performance, quality, and output targets are met.
• Act as the senior responsible person on site when other managers are off-site, including opening and locking the premises.
• Conduct quarterly 1-to-1 reviews and contribute to monthly team performance reporting.
• Support appraisal processes in line with the company’s review programme.
Production & Process Control
• Execute the daily manufacturing plan and ensure production runs efficiently throughout the shift.
• Perform tool changes and machine start-ups in accordance with documented procedures.• Submit first-off samples and documentation, ensuring a strong “right first time” approach.
• Ensure material handling duties are completed correctly and efficiently.
• Optimise machine settings to achieve maximum OEE, recording parameters for repeatability.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce scrap and improve process stability.
• Support tool trials as directed by the Technical Manager.
Quality & Compliance
• Work closely with the Quality Department to resolve issues promptly and maintain product conformity.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and all relevant company quality procedures.
• Maintain accurate scrap recording and ensure quality requirements are clearly communicated to staff.
Health, Safety & Environment
• Promote and maintain safe working practices in line with company policies and statutory requirements.
• Participate in the Emergency Team as defined in the Fire Evacuation Policy.
• Ensure all general duties outlined in the Health & Safety Policy Manual (Document No: 12261) are carried out.
Communication & Coordination
• Ensure effective communication across all shifts, ensuring messages are clear, understood, and actioned.
• Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate activities that span multiple shifts to ensure continuity and efficiency.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
• Lead and participate in improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and site capability.
• Contribute to projects that support the development of the site as a Centre of Excellence.
• Promote and uphold values, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
