Installation Design Engineer | Colchester | up to £40,000 | 25 days holiday plus bank holidays We are working with an innovative engineering business that is transforming the composites and structural design space. As part of an ambitious growth plan, they are expanding their design team and looking for a talented Installation Design Engineer to join their Colchester office. The Role As an Installation Design Engineer, you will produce and review detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings, using your engineering knowledge, practical experience, and design calculations to specify the most effective component applications. You will work closely with Project Managers, Production, and Engineering teams to deliver practical, high-quality design solutions. BIM experience is essential, you will use it daily to create, coordinate, and manage designs across multiple projects. Key Responsibilities: Produce detailed 2D/3D models and drawings using Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and BIM Ensure designs are compliant, constructable, and technically accurate Collaborate with Project Managers, Production, and Engineering teams to resolve technical queries Attend site visits and produce red-line/as-built drawings Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives Requirements: Strong engineering and structural design knowledge Practical experience with BIM and CAD tools Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills Confident communicator; comfortable client-facing and on-site Full UK driving licence Desirable: Knowledge of GRP/composite structural design Previous experience in design engineering roles Professional membership (or working towards, e.g., RIBA) Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays Pension, wellbeing initiatives, and health screening Role-specific training and development Health & lifestyle screening services Wellbeing programmes and initiatives If you are a practical, technically skilled Installation Design Engineer with strong BIM experience looking for a role where you can influence design and innovation, we want to hear from you
