Quantity Surveyor I – Life Sciences / Construction – Competitive Salary + Benefits The Role Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager, you will support the financial and contractual management of construction projects within highly regulated environments. Key Responsibilities * Cost Management & Project Controls * Support the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans. * Assist with cost forecasting, cost tracking, and financial reporting across active projects. * Monitor project expenditure and compare against approved budgets and cost plans. * Maintain accurate commercial documentation and cost management systems. * Support preparation of monthly cost reports and financial summaries. * Assist with valuation of works completed and cost verification. Procurement & Contract Administration * Support tendering and procurement activities including bid analysis and contractor evaluation. * Assist in preparing contracts, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements. * Monitor contractor performance against contractual and financial obligations. * Support the management of variations, change orders, and commercial adjustments. * Ensure contractual compliance with industry-standard contracts such as NEC, JCT, or FIDIC. Commercial Support & Stakeholder Coordination * Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial Leads to ensure effective cost control. * Provide commercial support across project planning, delivery, and close-out phases. * Maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal project teams. * Contribute to project reviews, audits, and financial analysis. * Support continuous improvement of commercial processes and reporting systems. What You’ll Bring * Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. * Approximately 2–5 years’ experience within a construction or project cost management environment. * Understanding of construction cost control, procurement, and contract administration. * Familiarity with NEC, JCT, FIDIC or similar construction contracts. * Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams. * Proficiency in cost management tools, spreadsheets, and project reporting systems.
