Laboratory Scientist (Temporary)

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Contract: Temporary – initial 6 month assignment

Hours: Full-time, standard days (Monday–Friday)

CY Partners are working with a growing and innovative life sciences organisation to recruit an Laboratory Scientist to support ongoing development programmes within their Research & Development function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a laboratory professional with experience in tissue culture and antibody based workflows to contribute to the development and optimisation of high quality diagnostic reagents within a regulated environment.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting feasibility studies, reagent development and assay verification activities. The position will involve hands on laboratory work, maintaining robust documentation standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

Performing mammalian tissue culture and media preparation using aseptic techniques

Supporting antibody purification workflows, including filtration, chromatography and buffer exchange

Conducting assay testing on automated instrumentation, including slide preparation and troubleshooting

Supporting analytical testing such as ELISA and protein quantification

Maintaining accurate laboratory notebooks, batch records and electronic data systems

Working in accordance with cGMP / ISO laboratory standards and safety procedures

Contributing to assay development, optimisation and qualification activities

Supporting general laboratory maintenance and equipment upkeep

About You

We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented scientist who enjoys working in a structured laboratory environment and contributing to collaborative R&D programmes.

Requirements:

Degree (BSc or MSc) in a relevant life science discipline

Practical experience in mammalian cell culture

Experience with antibody purification techniques

Ability to follow detailed SOPs and maintain high data integrity standards

Previous experience working in a regulated laboratory environment is highly desirable
