Lead Oncology Nurse
Location: Marylebone (Hybrid option available)

Salary: £47,000 to £60,000
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Oncology Nurse to oversee and develop a specialist nursing team delivering high-quality oncology care, including chemotherapy administration, directly in patients' homes.
This is a senior clinical leadership role requiring both advanced oncology expertise and strong leadership capability. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care delivery across a community-based cancer treatment service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of oncology nurses delivering home-based chemotherapy and cancer care
Provide clinical oversight for all oncology nursing activities within the community service
Ensure safe administration of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) in line with national guidelines
Act as clinical expert and escalation point for complex oncology cases
Support training, supervision, and professional development of nursing staff
Maintain compliance with oncology protocols, governance, and CQC standards
Work collaboratively with consultants, acute oncology teams, and primary care providers
Drive service improvement and innovation in home-based cancer care delivery
Ensure high standards of patient safety, experience, and clinical outcomes
Essential Requirements
Minimum 7-8 years' post-registration oncology nursing experience
Extensive experience in systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) / chemotherapy administration
Previous experience in a Senior Nurse / Ward Sister / Charge Nurse role (essential)
Proven experience in leadership within an oncology setting
Strong clinical knowledge of oncology treatments, toxicities, and emergency management
Valid NMC registration (Adult Nurse level)
Experience working in either acute oncology, day units, or community oncology services
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
Desirable Requirements
Previous experience as a Clinical Lead or Matron-level role in oncology
Experience setting up or managing home chemotherapy / hospital-at-home services
Oncology certification or specialist qualifications
Experience in service development or quality improvement initiatives
