Learning Mentor (Secondary School)
Location: Manchester
Start Date: ASAP / September
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Term-Time Only

A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Manchester is seeking an experienced Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed individual with a strong background in behaviour management and student support.

The Role:
You will work closely with students on a 1:1 and small group basis, supporting those who require additional guidance with behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing. The role will involve building positive relationships, acting as a role model, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for students with behavioural and emotional needs
Implement effective behaviour management strategies
Support students with SEND, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
Encourage positive attitudes, resilience, and engagement in learning
Support during lessons, break times, and extracurricular activities
Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience as a Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, or similar role
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate situations calmly
Experience in youth work, support work, or community-based roles
Background in sports coaching, particularly football coaching, or holiday/sports club settings
Experience supporting students with SEND
A patient, calm, and resilient approach
The ability to act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships
