Learning Support Assistant
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 support to a KS3/KS4 pupil with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Assist with personalised learning plans and differentiated activities.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies.
Build trusting relationships to promote engagement and improve attendance.
Maintain a safe, supportive environment following the school’s safeguarding and behaviour policies.
Requirements
Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or vulnerable young people (school, youth work, residential, or similar settings).
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques when required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
