Maintenance Engineer
Electrical Maintenance Engineer Location: East Midlands Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per year + Overtime Hours: Shift-based Job Type: Permanent / Contract / Temporary The Role We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy production site in the midlands . This is a full-time position focused on maintaining, fault-finding, and improving a wide range of plant and production equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime, while also contributing to continuous improvement and project work. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Fault Finding: * Diagnose and repair faults on production machinery and control systems * Maintain PLC and computer-controlled systems * Support plant services and electrical distribution systems Planned & Preventative Maintenance: * Carry out scheduled maintenance across process and safety systems * Maintain electrical distribution systems to ensure reliability and compliance Testing & Diagnostics: * Test electrical installations using appropriate equipment * Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics Project Work: * Assist in delivering small electrical projects from concept to commissioning * Design basic electrical control systems * Produce electrical drawings * Order components and materials * Build, install, and commission new or upgraded equipment Skills & Experience Required * Recognised electrical qualification (Apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds, or NVQ Level 3) * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability * Experience working with production plant systems, including: * PLCs * Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and soft starters * Sensors and process control systems * Weighing equipment * Experience in planned and preventative maintenance * Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical schematics Desirable Skills * PLC programming experience (particularly Mitsubishi or Siemens) * Multi-skilled background with mechanical or pneumatic knowledge * Inspection and testing qualifications * Previous experience within food manufacturing or a similar environment What’s on Offer * Competitive salary of £50,000 – £55,000 * Overtime opportunities * Stable, long-term opportunity within a growing business * Exposure to a wide range of equipment and projects * Opportunity to develop skills in both maintenance and project work
