Maintenance Engineer

Our client, a diverse farming and fresh produce business are seeking a self-motivated and experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team at their food manufacturing site in Brandon, Suffolk.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and fault-finding across a diverse range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated production equipment. Working with a variety of machinery and control systems, you will help maximise plant reliability, drive continuous improvement, and support the delivery of high-quality products.

About the Role

* 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

* Rotating shift pattern: Week 1 - 6:00 am–2:30 pm | Week 2 - 2:00 pm–10:30 pm

* One weekend every four weeks (Saturday or Sunday)

* 31 days annual leave, including bank holidays

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and implement effective solutions.

* Performing routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.

* Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out fault finding and repairs.

* Monitoring and optimising production processes to maximise efficiency.

* Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

* Supporting the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

* Carrying out other ad hoc engineering and maintenance duties as required.

Essential Requirements

* Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).

* Experience with PLC systems and automation.

* Strong knowledge of maintenance and fault-finding for mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals.

* Proactive and solution-focused approach.

* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

* High attention to detail.

* Flexibility to work rotating shifts and participate in the weekend rota.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.

* Knowledge of health and safety practices.

Desirable Requirements

* BS7671 Latest edition of wiring regulations.

* Experience within a manufacturing or food production environment.

* Experience with automated or packaging machinery.

* Experience with PLC systems and automation.
