Maintenance Engineer - Mechanical bias

Location: Wakefield 💷 Salary: £42,000 per year 🕒 Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm | Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm 📄 Contract: Permanent The Role We are currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business in the Wakefield area on a permanent basis. This role involves working across workshop and production machinery, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a variety of traditional workshop equipment as well as supporting general site engineering activities. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) Respond to breakdowns efficiently Fault find and repair machinery and equipment Maintain and repair: Lathes Milling machines Presses Workshop machinery Gearboxes, bearings, shafts and drive systems Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems Carry out electrical fault finding (motors, drives, control panels) Support continuous improvement and small engineering projects Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards Minimum Requirements Experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer Experience within manufacturing or workshop environments Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills Apprenticeship trained or time-served preferred Able to work independently and within a small team Good understanding of health & safety practices Package & Benefits Competitive salary of £40,000 – £42,000 Permanent, full-time position Early finish every Friday Stable, well-established business environment Supportive engineering team
