Maintenance Operative & Grounds Worker

Maintenance & Grounds Operative 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 09:00–17:30 (1-hour break) Location: Birmingham Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a unique residential property business for a Maintenance & Grounds Operative to join their team at a brand-new development in Birmingham. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for keeping the building and its communal grounds safe, well maintained, and looking their best at all times. About the Role You’ll deliver both planned and reactive maintenance across the site, oversee contractors from quotation to completion, and carry out essential statutory FM checks. Working closely with the onsite and front of house teams, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming environment for residents and visitors. A key part of the role includes maintaining the communal courtyard, ensuring outdoor areas remain tidy, attractive, and well cared for throughout the year. Key Duties Carry out day-to-day reactive and planned maintenance Complete general repairs including painting, minor plumbing, joinery, and small electrical works (UK compliant) Conduct statutory checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water testing, fire doors, etc.) Report and manage building defects with contractors Maintain stock and order materials when required Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards Maintain communal grounds including mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, and seasonal upkeepAbout You Experienced in general building maintenance Confident managing contractors and external works Proactive, reliable, and takes pride in high standards Gardening/grounds maintenance experience desirable Strong understanding of health & safety practicesIf you’re practical, organised, and take pride in maintaining high-quality residential environments, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a growing development
