Location: Aberdeen
Salary: £21.71 per hour (approximately £45,157 per annum based on 40 hours)
Hours: Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manual Horizontal Borer Operator to join an established precision engineering business in Aberdeen.
Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable machinist with strong experience operating manual horizontal boring machines, producing high-quality components to exacting engineering standards.
This position offers an excellent hourly rate, a competitive benefits package and the opportunity to work within a well-established engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate manual horizontal boring machines to manufacture and machine precision components.
* Work accurately from engineering drawings, specifications and machining instructions.
* Carry out boring, drilling, milling and associated machining operations as required.
* Machine new components and undertake refurbishment and rework of existing equipment.
* Conduct in-process dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
* Ensure components meet required quality standards and tolerances.
* Maintain accurate production records and material traceability.
* Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience operating manual horizontal boring machines.
* Strong background in manual machining within a precision engineering or heavy engineering environment.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently.
* Good understanding of machining techniques, tolerances and measuring equipment.
* Experience working with large or complex engineered components would be advantageous.
* Relevant machining apprenticeship or equivalent practical industry experience.
* Excellent attention to detail, a safety-conscious approach and the ability to work independently.
Salary & Benefits
* £21.71 per hour
* Approximately £45,157 annual earnings based on a 40-hour working week
* Monday to Friday working pattern
* 30 days' annual leave, inclusive of 10 public holidays
* Royal London pension scheme – 5% employee and 3% employer contributions
* Death-in-service benefit after 12 months' employment
* Employee medical insurance after two years' service
