Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Customer Facing
Location: Hamburg
Type: Permanent

The Manufacturing Engineer will act as the technical interface between customers and manufacturing, translating complex designs into optimised, production-ready solutions for high-precision CNC components. This role focuses on design for manufacture, advising on feasibility, cost, performance and scalability from early concept through to serial production. You will work closely with both customers and internal engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, efficient and aligned with real-world production constraints.

As part of a small, high-impact team, you will combine technical expertise with customer engagement, influencing both product design and manufacturing outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer

* Provide design for manufacture (DFM) guidance to customers across precision CNC components

* Assess feasibility, cost drivers and manufacturing risks at early design stages

* Translate customer designs into optimised manufacturing strategies

* Collaborate with CAM, production and quality teams to ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing capability

* Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, improve yield and simplify machining complexity

* Support new product introduction from concept through to production readiness

* Act as the primary technical contact for customers on manufacturing-related queries

* Contribute to process planning, fixturing concepts and inspection strategies where required

* Feed back manufacturing insights into standardised design guidelines and best practices

* Support integration of digital tools for quoting, simulation and manufacturing data capture

Requirements for the Manufacturing Engineer

* Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering

* Strong background in CNC machining, manufacturing engineering or process planning

* Proven experience providing DFM input or working closely with design and engineering teams

* Strong understanding of machining processes, materials and tolerances

* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T

* Confident communicating technical concepts to both engineers and non-specialists

* Structured, analytical and comfortable working in a high-ownership environment

It will be desirable for the Manufacturing Engineer to have

* Experience within aerospace, defence or other regulated manufacturing environments

* Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems and manufacturing simulation tools

* Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. EN 9100 / AS9100)

* Experience with cost modelling, quoting or commercial decision support

* Interest in digital manufacturing, automation or data-driven engineering

Benefits for the Manufacturing Engineer

* Customer-facing role influencing both product design and manufacturing outcomes

* Opportunity to shape DFM standards and best practices across multiple sites

* Exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and complex engineering challenges

* Work on high-value, precision components in demanding industries

* Equity or long-term incentive opportunities (where applicable)

* Collaborative, high-performance environment focused on continuous improvement
