The Opportunity
We are urgently seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join a leading international engineering and construction contractor on a major data centre project in Helsinki, Finland.
This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale, mission-critical development, overseeing mechanical commissioning activities and ensuring building services systems are fully tested, commissioned and ready for client handover.
You will work closely with the commissioning management team, mechanical engineers, construction teams, subcontractors and specialist vendors to coordinate pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance verification and final commissioning activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical commissioning background, with experience across HVAC, cooling, chilled water and associated mechanical systems. Previous data centre or mission-critical experience is highly advantageous. This is an urgent requirement.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and carry out mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across the project.
* Review mechanical design drawings, specifications and commissioning documentation.
* Develop, review and execute mechanical commissioning plans, procedures and test scripts.
* Coordinate testing and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
* Oversee commissioning of chillers, pumps, cooling systems, air handling units and associated equipment.
* Support commissioning of chilled water systems, pipework, valves and mechanical plant.
* Coordinate flushing, pressure testing, cleaning, balancing and system verification activities.
* Carry out functional testing and performance checks on mechanical equipment.
Requirements
* Mechanical engineering qualification or relevant mechanical trade background.
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
* Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
* Experience commissioning chillers, pumps, air handling units and cooling systems.
* Knowledge of chilled water systems, pipework, valves and associated mechanical plant.
* Experience with flushing, pressure testing, cleaning, balancing and functional testing.
* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
* Experience preparing and executing commissioning procedures and test documentation.
* Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
* Good understanding of mechanical health and safety requirements and permit-to-work procedures.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills.
