Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Essex (5 days per week onsite) Contract: 6 Month Contract IR35 Status: Outside IR35 Rate: £35–£45 per hour Overview We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment. You will work as part of a team of design engineers producing mechanical designs, drawings, and documentation for industrial machinery and equipment. Key Responsibilities * Design mechanical parts, assemblies, and equipment layouts * Produce manufacturing drawings and supporting documentation including BOMs and assembly drawings * Maintain and update existing machine designs and mechanical documentation * Work closely with internal teams including manufacturing and engineering * Ensure drawings and documentation are controlled and updated throughout the project lifecycle * Support equipment upgrades and modifications where required Technical Environment * Autodesk Inventor (3D) * Autodesk AutoCAD (2D) * Autodesk Vault for drawing and document control Requirements * Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline * Experience in mechanical design within an industrial or manufacturing environment * Strong CAD experience (Inventor, AutoCAD or similar such as SolidWorks) * Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, and fabrication * Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and documentation Desirable * Experience designing automated machinery or capital equipment * Knowledge of BS 8888 drafting standards and geometric tolerancing * Experience working on engineer-to-order projects or long project cycles This is a great opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a technically interesting contract role with a competitive hourly rate and Outside IR35 status
