Mechanical Design Engineer – Hydraulics & Heavy Steel Fabrication Ipswich Circa £40,000 + benefits A long-established manufacturer of bespoke processing and handling machinery is seeking a Design Engineer with strong experience in hydraulics and heavy steel fabrication. This is a hands-on role designing robust, heavy-duty equipment for a global customer base. The role of Mechanical Design Engineer includes: * Design bespoke machinery with a focus on hydraulic systems (cylinders, power packs, manifolds, pipework) * Produce 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings (Inventor / AutoCAD) * Design heavy steel fabrications, frames and welded structures * Create BOMs and manufacturing documentation * Support build, testing and commissioning of equipment * Work closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure practical, manufacturable designs To be considered for the role of Design Engineer:- * Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar * Strong experience with hydraulics and heavy fabricated steel structures * Proficient in Inventor (or similar 3D CAD) and AutoCAD * Experience designing bespoke or special purpose machinery * Hands-on, practical approach with strong attention to detail This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of full lifecycle machinery projects within a stable, growing engineering business
