Mechanical Fitter
The successful Mechanical Fitter will play a key role in maintaining production uptime, carrying out mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement activities across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
Install, maintain, and overhaul machinery, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Respond promptly to breakdowns in a high-pressure production environment.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical schematics.
Support machinery upgrades, installations, and improvement projects.
Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to maintain operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best engineering practices.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-moving environment.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
Time-served apprenticeship or relevant mechanical engineering qualification preferred.
Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.
Flexibility to work shifts and overtime when required
