Lead Mechanical Engineer East London £50,000 - £53,000 We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading building services provider delivering high-quality maintenance solutions to a range of commercial clients. With a strong focus on innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction, the company is committed to maintaining the highest standards across the commercial properties it manages. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the maintenance operations of two key commercial buildings located in East London, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all mechanical systems and plant equipment. This is a client-facing position that requires excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to service delivery. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain all mechanical systems and plant within the buildings, including HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, and associated controls. Carry out routine inspections and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant commonly found in modern commercial office environments. Respond quickly to reactive maintenance issues, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise disruption to building operations. Liaise with and oversee external contractors for specialist repairs, servicing, or installations, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment documentation using maintenance management systems. Provide regular updates to the client regarding maintenance activities, ensuring a high level of service and client satisfaction. Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards, maintaining a safe environment for building occupants. Support, supervise, and mentor junior engineers where required, promoting a collaborative and professional working environment. Requirements Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building maintenance with a strong mechanical background. Previous client-facing experience with strong communication and interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, boilers, and general mechanical plant within commercial buildings. Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Competent in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CAFM). Ideally hold a Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Air Conditioning, or a related discipline.
