We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to join the engineering team at our large‑scale manufacturing facility in Barton. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving high‑volume production equipment within a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.

The role operates on either a rotating shift pattern covering mornings and afternoons or a permanent shift, depending on operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing plant and machinery.

* Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, minimising downtime and disruption to production.

* Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs across equipment including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

* Support fault finding activities alongside Electrical Engineers where required.

* Conduct root cause analysis on repeat failures and implement long‑term, sustainable solutions.

* Identify and drive continuous improvements to machinery reliability, performance, and safety.

* Accurately log all maintenance and breakdown activity on the CMMS (Shire system).

* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and engineering best practice at all times.

* Fully comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Shift Patterns

Barton Main Site

* Week 1: 6:00am – 2:30pm (Monday to Friday)

* Week 2: 2:30pm – 11:00pm (Monday to Friday)

Parrot Street Site

* Week 1: 6:00am – 4:30pm (Monday to Thursday)

* Week 2: 6:00am – 4:30pm (Tuesday to Friday)

Essential Requirements

* Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

* Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

* Strong fault‑finding skills across mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.

* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a production‑critical environment.

* Good communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams.

* Proactive, hands‑on approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement and safety.

Desirable Experience

* Experience within FMCG, woodworking, or high‑volume manufacturing environments.

* Previous experience working with automated production machinery
