Mechanics
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical assembly, maintenance and repair work on trucks, military vehicles and heavy equipment.
Build and assemble complex mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
Remove, inspect, repair and replace mechanical components.
Work on engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, hydraulics and associated vehicle systems.
Diagnose mechanical faults and identify suitable repair solutions.
Complete precision fitting work to tight tolerances.
Assemble and repair aluminium structures and vehicle components.
Carry out drilling, tapping, marking out and general fabrication work.
Use a wide range of hand and power tools, including spanners, ratchet sets, Allen keys, drills and impact tools.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals and work instructions.
Carry out welding work where required, including in restricted or confined areas.
Ensure all completed work meets the required safety and quality standards.
Experience Required
Previous experience working as a mechanic, technician or mechanical fitter.
Strong experience working on trucks, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, plant machinery or heavy equipment.
Good knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems.
Experience diagnosing faults and completing mechanical repairs.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and repair instructions.
Welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and difficult working positions.
Strong German language skills are essential.
