About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable CMM Metrology Technician to join a growing aerospace manufacturing team, supporting the production and validation of advanced Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS).

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a cutting-edge manufacturing environment focused on precision engineering, dimensional verification and continuous quality improvement within an AS9100-compliant aerospace setting.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring all manufactured components, assemblies and subcontract-supplied parts meet exacting dimensional and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform dimensional inspection and verification of machined, fabricated, additive manufactured and assembled aerospace components using CMM and laser scanning technologies.

* Program, operate and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for first-off, in-process and final inspection activities.

* Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.

* Interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and GD&T specifications.

* Produce detailed inspection reports, deviation reports and dimensional data packs.

* Support root cause investigations into dimensional non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.

* Verify both internally manufactured components and subcontract-supplied parts.

* Support manufacturing and engineering teams with process capability studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) and continuous improvement initiatives.

* Ensure all metrology activities comply with AS9100 quality standards and traceability requirements.

* Maintain calibration awareness and control of inspection and measurement equipment.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as a CMM Technician, Metrology Technician or Quality Inspector within aerospace, defence or another high-precision engineering environment.

* Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.

* Experience conducting AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

* Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.

* Experience producing dimensional inspection reports and non-conformance documentation.

* Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to right-first-time quality.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely alongside manufacturing, CNC machining and engineering teams.

Desirable Skills

* Experience with Hexagon CMM systems.

* Knowledge of PC-DMIS, QUINDOS or similar CMM software.

* Experience using laser scanning or 3D metrology systems.

* Familiarity with portable measuring arms and Hexagon laser scanners.

* Experience inspecting complex 5-axis machined aerospace components.

* Exposure to composite materials, additive manufacturing or UAS airframe structures.

* Understanding of surface profile analysis and reverse engineering inspection techniques.

Qualifications

* Engineering or Manufacturing qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HNC or equivalent) preferred.

* Formal CMM programming certification advantageous.

* Metrology or Quality Inspection training desirable
