Mobile Plant Operator
Mobile Plant Operator Plymouth Permanent Position £35,000 per year + shift premium 40 hours per week We are currently recruiting a Mobile Plant Operator to primarily drive a tracked excavator, and other machinery such as a telehandler and tractors. You will join the Care and Maintenance Team at a significant mine site rebuild project in Plymouth. This is a permanent role offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work on a high-impact, technically challenging site. About the Role: Reporting to the Care and Maintenance Supervisor, you will operate a range of mobile plant machinery and assist with a variety of tasks supporting the day-to-day maintenance of the Mine Site, Pit, and Mineral Waste Facility. Key Responsibilities: * Operate plant machinery including Excavators, Telehandlers, Tractors and 4x4 light vehicles. * Carry out daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. * Attend daily shift start-up meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings. * Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment defects to the Supervisor promptly. * Support site operations such as pump/pipeline movements, dust control, surface water management, road maintenance, refuelling, and general housekeeping. * Assist with loading and unloading shipments and other duties as required. This is a permanent Monday-Friday position 40 hours per week. Within the next 6 months when the site is fully operational, this will move to shift work which will come with a shift allowance. Skills & Qualifications: Essential: * Valid UK Driving License * CPCS or NPORS Excavator qualification * Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) * Must be able to pass regular drug and alcohol testing Desirable: * NVQ Level qualification in plant operations * Qualifications and experience operating a range of heavy plant: telehandler, dozers, wheel loaders, haul trucks. * Previous experience in mining, quarrying, or similar industries (construction, civil engineering, etc.) * IOSH – Working Safely Certification * First Aid at Work qualification * Basic computer skills For a confidential chat, please contact Abbie or Cat on (phone number removed).
