We are seeking an experienced and motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving a wide range of production equipment to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency and uptime. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and a commitment to continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a team player with the ability to work independently, respond effectively to breakdowns, and contribute to the ongoing development of maintenance processes and junior team members.

Key Attributes

*

Time-served Mechanical or Electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent engineering qualification.

*

Minimum of 4 years' experience in a Maintenance Technician role, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.

*

Multi-skilled maintenance experience across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.

*

Ability to make effective decisions under pressure to meet operational deadlines.

*

Strong analytical and numerical skills.

*

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

*

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

*

Well organised with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

*

Proven fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

*

Flexible approach with a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

*

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair a wide range of production equipment, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control systems.

*

Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend long-term corrective actions and process improvements.

*

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.

*

Record maintenance activities and equipment history within the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

*

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and recommend improvements where appropriate.

*

Maintain accurate spare parts records and support effective inventory management.

*

Dismantle, inspect, repair, modify, install and reassemble machinery using technical drawings, manuals and engineering documentation.

*

Support equipment installations, commissioning activities and continuous improvement projects.

*

Work closely with production and engineering teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.

*

Contribute to achieving maintenance and production performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).

*

Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with health, safety and environmental procedures.

*

Maintain high standards of housekeeping within maintenance and production areas.

*

Liaise with other departments to support the efficient operation of the business.

*

Participate in relevant technical and safety training to maintain skills and regulatory compliance.

*

Support the development and mentoring of apprentices and junior maintenance personnel.

*

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and reliability projects.

*

Be flexible to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends, where required.

*

Be available to work overtime when necessary to support operational requirements.

*

Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as required
