National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6&8) - Groundworks
Job Title: Competent Person (CP) - Groundworks - NSI 6&8 Full Location: Necton Substation, UK Job Type: Contract Start Date: 24/03/2026 Rate: Up to £36/hour DOE Overview: We are currently recruiting an experienced Competent Person (CP) to support groundworks within a live substation environment. This role will involve supervising civil gangs and ensuring safe and efficient delivery of works in line with site and National Grid standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervision of gangs working inside and outside a live substation Overseeing installation of chippings and Type 3 to level Supervising concrete works and remedial/bagging activities Installation of ducts and drawpits Excavation works for earthing Managing lifting procedures for lighting column installationRequirements: Competent Person (CP) authorisation Experience working in live substations HSG47 Cat 1 & 2 (beneficial but not essential) Strong leadership and safety awarenessNote: We welcome candidates with a mix of the above tickets, as requirements vary slightly across positions. Pre-Start Induction: All operatives must complete the online induction (Intasite) prior to arriving on site A valid QR code must be presented Failure to complete induction = non-payment for time spent completing it later Site Rules & Conduct:Adherence to all site rules is mandatory First 4 weeks: unpaid breaks After 4 weeks: 30-minute paid daily break No payment for operatives dismissed due to negligence or misconduct Random Drug & Alcohol testing in place No travel time paid Parking costs are not reimbursed Left turn in/out of site must be followedIf you are interested and would like to be put forward for the role in question, please respond to the advert with your most up to date CV and tickets for consideration.
