Salary: £35,000 per annum, with an increase following successful completion of probation
Working arrangement: Hybrid
Position: Permanent, full-time
An established and growing freight-forwarding business is looking for an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join its team in Dagenham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years’ ocean-import experience who can manage shipments confidently from initial booking through to final delivery. Previous experience using CargoWise is essential.

Key Responsibilities
*
Manage ocean-import shipments from booking through to final delivery
*
Handle both FCL and LCL consignments
*
Liaise with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and internal departments
*
Monitor vessel schedules, arrivals and shipment milestones
*
Provide customers with regular and proactive shipment updates
*
Arrange customs-clearance instructions and supporting documentation
*
Coordinate container collections and final deliveries
*
Manage Bills of Lading, arrival notices and import documentation
*
Obtain rates and prepare customer quotations
*
Process supplier invoices and raise customer invoices
*
Resolve delays, documentation issues and operational queries
*
Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment records within CargoWise
*
Deliver a consistently high level of customer service
Essential Requirements
*
A minimum of two years’ ocean-import experience within freight forwarding
*
Strong knowledge of end-to-end ocean-import operations
*
Previous experience handling FCL and LCL shipments
*
Confident using CargoWise
*
Excellent customer-service and communication skills
*
Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
*
Able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively
*
Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
