Operations & Maintenance Planner / Stock Controller

Employer: Blue Arrow

Location: Thornton - FY7

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Temporary ongoing

Overview

This role is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, managing stock levels, and supporting operational performance through effective planning, scheduling, and data analysis. You'll work closely with the Operations & Maintenance Manager to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Coordination

Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities and resources
Work with internal teams and external service providers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance
Support delivery of preventative maintenance programmes (PPM)

Stock Control & Procurement

Monitor and control stock levels and daily material transactions
Manage stock records, inventory databases, and storage locations
Source and negotiate terms, pricing, and lead times for maintenance supplies
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities

Data & Reporting

Record and analyse maintenance performance data
Track stock utilisation and generate reports to support operational decisions

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure all activities comply with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
Identify risks and contribute to improvement solutions

Administrative & Systems Support

Maintain accurate documentation relating to maintenance activities
Use business systems and procurement tools effectively (e.g., CMMS systems)
Support audit processes and follow-up actions

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

Experience in planning, scheduling, stock control, or maintenance coordination
Strong organisational and communication skills
Experience with data management and reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work effectively within a team

Desirable

Mechanical or Electrical qualification, or relevant stock/planning certification
Experience with CMMS systems (e.g. Mainsaver or similar)
Knowledge of procurement processes
Project management exposure (e.g. PRINCE2)
