Role Overview

The Part‑Time Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the company's sales ledger, ensuring timely customer payments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the finance team with credit management and cashflow processes. This is an ideal role for someone experienced in credit control who wants part‑time working hours within a well‑established, friendly, family‑run organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Control & Ledger Maintenance

Manage the customer sales ledger, ensuring all payments are recorded accurately.
Chase outstanding invoices via phone, email, and written communication.
Monitor aged debt and take proactive action to reduce overdue balances.

Customer Accounts

Build strong working relationships with customers to resolve invoice or payment queries.
Set up new customer accounts and conduct credit checks as required.
Investigate discrepancies and liaise with internal departments (sales, dispatch, accounts).

Financial Administration

Allocate payments and reconcile accounts.
Prepare regular aged debtor reports for management.
Support the finance team with month‑end tasks relating to credit control.

Compliance & Processes

Ensure credit control activity aligns with company policy and industry best practices.
Maintain accurate and secure financial records.

Skills & Experience Required

Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or finance administration.
Strong communication and customer‑handling skills.
Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.
Good IT skills including Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar).
High attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications

Finance or accounts‑related qualification (desirable but not essential).
GCSEs including Maths & English (minimum).
