The Opportunity

I am recruiting for a Payroll Manager to take ownership of the payroll function for approximately 600 employees across a diverse workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and friendly team in brand-new offices, with an excellent holiday allowance and the chance to play a key role in an exciting payroll transformation project.

The business is currently transitioning from Sage Payroll to the integrated payroll function within UKG HR, which will automate a number of manual processes and help streamline payroll operations.

This position can be offered on either:

* A part-time basis focused solely on payroll management, or

* A full-time basis combining payroll responsibilities with wider finance support duties alongside the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and process the monthly payroll for approximately 600 employees.

* Ensure payroll is completed accurately and within required deadlines.

* Calculate pay across multiple departments, contracts, and pay structures.

* Administer variable payroll elements including bonuses, average earnings calculations, overtime, and other adjustments.

* Liaise with managers to ensure payroll data is accurate and up to date.

* Resolve payroll queries from employees and management.

* Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.

* Support the implementation and ongoing development of the UKG integrated payroll system.

* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation within payroll processes.

* Prepare payroll reports and reconciliation data as required.

Additional Responsibilities (Full-Time Option)

* Support the Finance Manager with day-to-day finance administration.

* Assist with purchase ledger, reconciliations, and other accounting tasks.

* Provide general administrative support to the finance function.

* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and payroll.

About You

* Previous experience managing end-to-end payroll.

* Confident handling payrolls with complex calculations and variable pay elements.

* Strong understanding of payroll legislation and best practice.

* Experience using payroll systems, ideally Sage and/or UKG (or similar HRIS/payroll platforms).

* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with managers across the business.

* Comfortable working in a hands-on role and taking ownership of payroll processes.

* Finance experience would be advantageous for candidates seeking the full-time opportunity.

What's on Offer?

* Salary of £40,000-£45,000

* Full-time or part-time flexibility.

* Excellent holiday allowance.

* Brand-new office facilities.

* Opportunity to play a key role in an exciting payroll system implementation and transformation project.

* Long-term career stability within a growing business
