About the Role
Year 5 marks a pivotal stage where expectations rise and maintaining structure and consistency is essential to support pupil progress. As a Year 5 Teacher, you will lead pupils through a more challenging curriculum, fostering strong routines and providing excellent support to ensure their continued development.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver the Year 5 curriculum across core subjects effectively
Support the development of reading comprehension and writing skills
Plan and deliver structured mathematics lessons
Prepare pupils for progression to upper Key Stage 2
Monitor pupil progress and provide targeted interventions as needed
Maintain consistent classroom routines to promote a positive learning environment
The Classroom Environment
Lessons are well-structured and consistent
Pupils clearly understand expectations
Behaviour is well-managed and stable
Learning progresses steadily and confidently
Skills and Experience
Proven experience teaching within Key Stage 2
Strong classroom management and organisational skills
Effective planning and clear communication abilities
What Success Looks Like
Consistent pupil progress and attainment
Increased pupil confidence and engagement
Maintained strong classroom routines and behaviour
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; however, applications are welcomed from unqualified teachers with relevant KS2 experience.
