About the school:
This specialist provision supports children and young people aged 7-16 with SEMH needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Pupils are taught in small, carefully structured classes and benefit from a trauma‑informed environment where emotional wellbeing, relationships and consistency are central to learning.
This role focuses on the primary age group (KS2), where learners may be working significantly below age-related expectations. Teaching here requires patience, creativity, and a holistic approach that prioritises emotional safety alongside academic progress. Staff work collaboratively to help each learner build confidence, develop regulation skills and re-engage positively with education.
About the role:
Deliver nurturing, engaging and highly differentiated lessons for KS2 pupils
Support learners with a broad range of SEMH and SEND needs
Build strong, trusting relationships grounded in consistency and respect
Work with a dedicated team including TAs, pastoral staff, therapists and parents/carers
Use trauma‑informed strategies to promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence
Contribute to personalised learning plans and help pupils meet their EHCP outcomes
Maintain a calm, structured classroom environment that supports emotional regulation
What We're Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant equivalent
Experience in SEMH or SEND settings, or strong SEND experience in mainstream
A reflective, resilient practitioner with excellent behaviour‑support skills
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Ability to tailor learning to diverse needs, abilities and communication styles
Commitment to inclusive education and whole-child development
To be eligible you must:
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references
