Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas including Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead, Redcar and Ashington
Salary: £120–£160 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

Welcoming and supportive schools based in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking dedicated Primary Teachers with a Pastoral Focus to support pupils across Newcastle and surrounding areas including Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead, Redcar and Ashington. This Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about both teaching and supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development.

The successful Primary Teachers with a Pastoral Focus will deliver engaging primary lessons while also providing pastoral guidance to pupils who may require additional emotional or behavioural support. This Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus opportunity offers the chance to work flexibly across a range of school settings while making a meaningful impact on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities of the Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus:

Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the primary curriculum
Supporting pupils with emotional wellbeing and pastoral needs
Promoting positive behaviour and strong classroom routines
Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning
Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus Will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching within a primary school setting
Demonstrate strong pastoral awareness and behaviour support skills
Be confident supporting pupils with additional emotional needs
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
Have a fully checkable work history
This Primary Teacher with a Pastoral Focus role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
