A well-established consultancy in London is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support the delivery of technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally. This role offers a mix of technical leadership, project delivery, and team development, with a strong focus on large earth structures and tailings storage facilities. The Role: Leading geotechnical input on complex projects from feasibility through to construction and ongoing monitoring Producing and reviewing detailed geotechnical and geotechnical risk assessments, including dam safety and stability analyses Providing expertise in slope stability, earthworks, and the design and assessment of tailings storage facilities Supporting projects involving embankment dams, containment systems, and ground improvement techniques Contributing to dam safety reviews, audits, and risk management strategies Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the growth of the team Liaising with clients and stakeholders across the UK and international markets About You: Proven experience in a senior or principal geotechnical role Strong background in earth structures, embankments, or tailings storage facilities Experience with slope stability analysis and geotechnical modelling software (e.g. GeoStudio, PLAXIS or similar) Good understanding of dam safety regulations and industry best practice Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or similar) Strong communication skills and ability to lead both projects and client relationships What's on Offer: Competitive salary and benefits package Clear pathway to Associate level Opportunity to work on high-risk, high-impact projects globally Flexible working and supportive team culture Exposure to technically challenging and specialist work
