Apply NowWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a busy local authority enforcement team in Norfolk
This is an excellent opportunity for an officer who can hit the ground running, managing a varied caseload of housing enforcement matters with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake inspections of private sector residential properties.
* Carry out HHSRS assessments, including knowledge of the latest HHSRS 2 guidance and principles.
* Investigate housing complaints including damp and mould, excess cold, disrepair and other housing hazards.
* Serve and enforce statutory notices under the Housing Act 2004.
* Prepare evidence and case files to support enforcement action.
* Conduct HMO inspections and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Liaise with landlords, tenants, managing agents and partner agencies.
* Maintain accurate case records using the council's case management systems.
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience working as a Private Sector Housing Officer, Environmental Health Officer or Housing Enforcement Officer.
* Strong experience undertaking HHSRS inspections and assessments.
* Experience serving notices, including Improvement Notices, Hazard Awareness Notices, Prohibition Orders and other Housing Act enforcement actions.
* Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
* Excellent knowledge of housing legislation and enforcement procedures
