Job Title: Production Leader

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Production Leader to join a highly regulated chemical manufacturing business based in Merseyside. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production operations while driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage a team of 3 direct reports and approximately 30 indirect reports within production and operations.

* Take ownership of day-to-day production activities, ensuring targets are met safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements.

* Actively drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilising tools such as root cause analysis and fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams to identify and resolve operational issues.

* Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, supporting teams and ensuring best practices are consistently followed.

* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

* Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to optimise performance.

* Develop, coach, and mentor team members to enhance capability and engagement.

* Monitor KPIs and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall operational performance.

About You

* Proven experience in a production leadership or supervisory role within a regulated manufacturing environment (chemical, pharmaceutical, or similar).

* Strong understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving tools (e.g., fishbone analysis, root cause analysis).

* A hands-on leader who is comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging directly with teams.

* Demonstrated experience managing both direct and indirect reports.

* Strong knowledge of health & safety and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.

* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

* A proactive mindset with a passion for driving operational excellence and improvement.
